ICF Capital Expansió II pumps €2.5 million into TECNIC Bioprocess

The ICF Capital Expansió II fund has injected €2.5 million into Girona-based TECNIC Bioprocess Equipment Manufacturing which specialises in developing equipment for biotech processes. The transaction has been completed through a capital increase designed to make the company more competitive and drive its growth abroad.

The firm was set up in 2011 by Manel Moyano and is a CataloniaBio & HealthTechmember. It is known for its cutting-edge technology and innovation and its value proposition as it delivers end-to-end service to meet its customers’needs.

TECNIC’s core business consists of designing, engineering and manufacturing laboratory, pilot plant and production plant capital goods for businesses looking to produce biomolecules whether microbial or cellular.

The company has a multidisciplinary team of 27 people with backgrounds in fields such as engineering, biotechnology, biology and chemistry together with 5,000 m2 in factory and office space which will be extended with a large part of the investment. The capital increase will also be used to upgrade production and R&D facilities and further expand the business abroad.

The ICF Capital Expansió II fund invests in Catalan businesses to support organic and inorganic growth plans by taking minority stakes up to a cap of a €5 million ticket per transaction.
