Vytrus Biotech is up more than 25% in its stock market debut at BME Growth

Vytrus Biotech, a company specializing in active ingredients derived from plant stem cells for the cosmetics industry, and a CataloniaBio &  HealthTech member, went public this Tuesday, March 15 and closed its  first day with an increase in its value by more than 25% in its first trading  day on BME Growth, the SME exchange.

The biotech company has begun its debut in the BME Growth market with a rise of 19.77% after the traditional ringing of the bell held in an exciting event at the Barcelona Stock Exchange, which was also attended as guests by Mariona Serra, Vice President of CataloniaBio & HealthTech, and Melqui Calzado, Secretary General, representing the association. Vytrus Biotech is the second company to debut in the SME market in 2022. At the end of its first day, the company's valuation has increased by 25.58%, with a price of € 2.16 per share. The  value of the company's stock has been released at a price of 1.72 euros, which  is an initial valuation of the company of 12.24 million euros. 

Founded more than 12 years ago by Albert Jané, biotechnologist and biochemist and Master in Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Òscar Expósito, biologist and PhD in Plant Biotechnology, and current CEOs, Vytrus has increased its turnover by  65% during the year 2021 to 2.8 million euros compared to 2020, which means an increase in sales of 133% in the two years of the pandemic and a double-digit increase annually, in the upward trend of the last 5 years. In addition, in 2021, Vytrus has managed to increase its EBITDA by 90% to 1.12  million euros compared to 2020 and multiply by more than 5 the EBITDA it  obtained in 2019.

Pending the annual audit, the biotech company estimates that it could close 2021 with the best results in its history, where 65% of its sales are the result of exports to more than 30 countries. Vytrus has closed 2021 with a team of almost 30 skilled workers, and with facilities of 1,400 sqm in Terrassa (Barcelona) where they research, develop, produce and market high value-added active ingredients for the cosmetics industry and the healthcare sector.
