A European project will assess Better Care technology

Carla Archs,

The BC Link platform, developed by the biotechnology company Better Care, member of CataloniaBio & HealthTech, will be the first technology to be evaluated using the parameters agreed upon by all participants in the ASSESS-DHT project, which aims to standardize and harmonize the evaluation of Digital Health Technologies across Europe.

Once the evaluation criteria for DHT are established at the national and European levels, the working group responsible for the case studies within the consortium, comprised of 14 partners from 7 countries, will assess the DHT - BC Link - tasked with connecting, integrating, and analyzing biomedical data generated by any device throughout the care pathway. The solution will be evaluated according to the reference framework established to verify if the criteria are realistic and the implementation of DHT in European systems can be carried out in practice.

"We want to thank the working group for involving us in a project where we can contribute to a greater harmonization of evaluation criteria for digital health technologies in EuropeWe work with great enthusiasm, and that is why we feel confident to be the first to evaluate our solutions according to the framework decided by the working group that is part of ASSESS-DHT," explains Xavier García, CEO of Better Care.

Digital Health Technologies are a diverse group of technologies with great potential to improve the quality of life for patients and enable new forms of healthcare delivery, even providing, in some cases, new avenues of access to populations lacking healthcare facilities in their vicinity. The consortium, comprised of 14 entities including national and regional technological assessment agencies, patient associations, university departments, and private companies, is coordinated by the European Institute of Innovation through healthcare data.
