CataloniaBio & HealthTech held its ordinary general assembly on the 15 February at the Barcelona Science Park, where the members of the board, the executive team and around 70 members met to share and approve the 2019 action plan, as well as the management report and accounts from financial year 2018. The admission of 24 new partners* was also approved.

On behalf of the board, and in accordance with the bylaws, the participants included Jaume Amat (president), Maribel Bergés (treasurer), Àngel Alonso (secretary) and Melqui Calzado (secretary general of the association).

“The integration of CataloniaBio and the HealthTech Cluster one year ago reflects the transversality of the biomedicine and health sector. Diversity makes us richer and enables us to create future synergies and become the support point around which the levers of the other agents in the ecosystem can revolve,” said Jaume Amat.

“We wanted an active, lively association, and we’ve got one. Thanks to all the partners for your involvement,” said the president of CataloniaBioHT.

The 2019 action plan will revolve around the three strategic strands: innovation to be global, entrepreneurship as an attitude, and networking as a way of working. More specifically, this year’s objectives will be to facilitate synergies among the agents within the ecosystem in a bid to accelerate the innovation projects and position CataloniaBioHT as the benchmark business interlocutor in the field of biomedicine and health in Catalonia.

The new Workgroups (WGs) on Regulatory Affairs and Innovation are slated to play a prominent role in the different initiatives and activities that will be promoted. There are also plans to launch a WG on Internationalization in the near future.

In terms of the 2018 management report, the year ended with a total of 156 members, primarily in biopharmaceutical product development, medical technology and digital health, while more than 1,000 entrepreneurs, executives and professionals participated in the activities held throughout the year.

The next members’ meeting is CataloniaBio & HealthTech Gala Dinner, which will be held on 7 March at the Sant Pau Art Nouveau Site in Barcelona. Likewise, the Agenda on the website periodically lists all the activities that CataloniaBioHT and its associated companies and knowledge agents are hosting.
