SocialDiabetes and Novo Nordisk work together to optimise diabetes management

comunicacio@cataloniabioht.org,

SocialDiabetes and Novo Nordisk are bringing together knowledge and digital health solutions to help people with diabetes and the healthcare professionals who treat them to optimise glucose control. And there is no doubt that diabetes is one of the diseases that requires those who suffer from it to be more involved and make more decisions daily to control their diabetes.

SocialDiabetes, a member of CataloniaBio & HealthTech, joins forces with Novo Nordisk for this common goal of improving the control of diabetes by integrating two technologies in a single digital support (a mobile app), which allows to optimise the measurement of blood glucose levels and the dosage of insulin. Specifically, this involves the integration of the SocialDiabetes App and Novo Nordisk's NovoPen® 6 and NovoPen Echo® Plus smart insulin pens. With this integration, people with insulin-dependent diabetes can have all the information they need for glucose control in the SocialDiabetes app. The app, available for iOS and Android, provides access to a report detailing glucose levels and insulin trends and doses, enabling shared decision-making based on valid and reliable data.

In addition to a dose-logging screen display, which allows you to check the number of units and the time that has passed since the last administration, the information stored in the smart insulin pens can be easily transferred to the app with a quick and easy scan. The app will automatically record not only the last injection, but also the entire history pending on the device.

According to María Jesús Salido, CEO of SocialDiabetes, "this integration facilitates in a very simple way the adherence to insulin therapy of people with diabetes who use these smart insulin pens, providing greater freedom, peace of mind and control in the management of their diabetes. And this is one of our goals, to simplify the management of diabetes and bring the benefits of technology to all people with this condition.”
