DKV banks on DyCare telerehabilitation platform

DKV has chosen the ReHub® digital telerehabilitation platform from start-up DyCare, a CataloniaBio & HealthTech member, to improve patient care at its 1,400 affiliated rehabilitation centres in Spain. The new service is currently available at 15 centres and is expected to be rolled out throughout the network in 2021.

Silvia Raga, co-founder and CEO of DyCare, highlights that “ReHub® makes it possible for patients to continue treatment at times when social distancing is difficult.”

“Telemedicine has gone from being a complementary service to an essential part of clinical care, which was particularly effective during the Covid-19 crisis,” notes Julio Lorca, DKV director of Digital Health Development. A few months ago, Lorca participated in the CataloniaBio & HealthTech UnConference reflecting on digital health as a train we don’t want to miss.

Personalised programme for patients and physical  therapists

DyCare is developing innovative solutions for patients with musculoskeletal issues. The ReHub® platform covers the whole rehabilitation process, from first visit through complete recovery. So far, 800 patients have been treated using this new system.

In terms of patients, “we’ve seen an increase in their motivation and co-responsibility for treatment, plus it allows physical therapists to set up a personalised programme and progressively monitor the patient with real data and goals,” explains Silvia Raga. The patient and professional are always connected via chat or video call.

In the early days, DyCare received support from pharmaceutical company Bayer through the Grants4Apps programme and from the European Commission under the Horizon 2020 programme.
