CataloniaBio & HealthTech brought together nearly 400 executives, entrepreneurs, investors  and stakeholders in the biomedical and health sector in Catalonia at a new  edition of the summer barbecue on 14 July at the Specipig facilities. The association and the sector are growing, and the attendance figures reflect this. This year the BBQ has had the support as silver sponsors of Asabys, Caixa Capital Risc, Capital Cell, GENESIS Biomed, Inveready, Invivo  Ventures and Ysios Capital.

2022 was a special edition of the meeting, after two years of obliged pause due to the pandemic. Joan  Puig, president of CataloniaBio & HealthTech, gave thanks to the attendees for their trust in the association and their support through their participation in the activities. He announced that the renewed board is "moving forward with new initiatives starting in September, we are working on internationalisation, and we want to continue to promote meeting and networking points for members".

The #BBQ2022 has covered the capacity, with nearly 400 people gathered at the sector's summer even. "Our community is unique, with representation from the entire value chain of the sector, and is a consolidated meeting point for the sector," remarked Javier Selva, CEO of CataloniaBio & HealthTech. "We continue to work to promote an international outlook, to position ourselves in health policies and to foster public-private collaboration," he added.

During the speeches it was also the moment to say goodbye to Melqui Calzado, who is leaving the association to pursue new professional projects. He has been the Secretary General of CataloniaBio & HealthTech for more than 7 years and was acknowledged and thanked for his contribution to the construction and growth of the association, alongside the successive boards of directors.

The BBQ was once again a relaxed evening of meetings and networking, even more so than usual, after these two years. There was the classic barbecue led by the chief Luis Ruiz-Ávila, but there were also new features in the organisation, which had new lighting and free bus service to facilitate the transfer of attendees from Barcelona.
