Companies in the health and biomedicine sector innovate to come up with solutions to unmet medical needs and bring them to as many patients as possible. So, they are companies that generate return that goes beyond just economics, where more and more we are talking about the importance of raising awareness of the tangible and intangible social impact of their activity (Social Return on Investment or SROI). SROI is aligned with the founding principles of the European policy framework Health 2020 and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
In Catalonia, there are investors, project accelerators and entrepreneurs that are firmly committed to it.
What is impact investing or SROI? Why is it strategic for companies in the sector? What are investors looking for in projects? How is this taken into account when designing and managing the company? And, finally, how is it measured? The next Lessons Learned session, on 9 May in the Barcelona Science Park, will feature entrepreneurs, investors and heads of organisations working to have an impact on society, who will share their points of view and experience in a dynamic, participative debate with the whole audience.

The Lessons Learned sessions, which kicked off in 2014 promoted by CataloniaBio & HealthTech, are a knowledge forum for professionals in the health and biomedicine arena to share experiences and reflections with experts on various strategic areas to boost the competitiveness of companies. The Lessons Learned sessions are also a great opportunity for networking.
