CataloniaBio & HealthTech is organising the second CEO Council session of this 2023. On this occasion, the special guest speaker is Boi Ruiz, who currently chairs the consultancy firm Know How Advisers.
Following on from the CEO Council held in February with Antón Costas, this time the debate will focus on how to promote health as an economic sector. The aim of this CEO Council is to debate, between the fields of health and the economy, the behaviour of the sector and to see how to improve its impact on society.
Boi Ruiz was Minister of Health of the Generalitat de Catalunya between 2010 and 2016. Prior to that, he was Director General of the Catalan Hospitals Union (1994-2008), and was also a member of the Board of Directors of Foment del Treball between 2004 and 2010. He holds a degree in Medicine and Surgery and a doctorate from the University of Barcelona, and a diploma in Hospital Management from the Barcelona School of Management and Administration (EADA). He is founder and, currently, president of the international consultancy firm Know How Advisers, and director of the Chair of Health Management and Health Policies and of the University Institute of Patients at the International University of Catalonia (UIC).
This event is organised jointly with the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce, through the institution's Health Committee.

What are CEO Councils?
CEO Councils are small-group talks with members of the boards of directors of start-ups and companies from CataloniaBio & HealthTech, where a prestigious expert or business or political leader is invited to share experiences and strategic perspectives for companies.
These sessions were first held in 2017, when Catalonia already had a consolidated business community and an ever-growing network of entrepreneurs in the life sciences and health. In addition to presenting topics of interest, CEO Councils also help strengthen the relationships of this invaluable group for the ecosystem.
