CataloniaBio & HealthTech is organising the fourth session of the 2023 CEO Council. On this occasion, the guest speaker is Xavier Prats, current president of the Patronat de l'Hospital Sant Pau.

Following the line of the last three editions, with Antón Costas, Boi Ruiz and Núria Mas as guests, the aim of this fourth CEO Council is to present A European perspective on the health system.

Xavier Prats Monné is Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Hospital Sant Pau in Barcelona. He chairs the Europe Committee of the King Baudouin Foundation and is a director of Astanor Ventures, a venture capital impact investor focused on the sustainability of food systems. He is a special advisor to Teach For All, a US-based global non-profit organisation whose mission is to expand educational opportunities worldwide; advisor to strategic initiatives of the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) and the Knowledge and Development Foundation (CYD). He is a member of the board of trustees of the Fundació Banc Sabadell and of several non-profit organisations. 

He has spent most of his professional career at the European Commission in Brussels, including as Director General for Health and Food Safety (2015-2018). As Director General for Education and Culture, he was responsible for EU education and cultural policies and programmes (Erasmus, Marie Curie, Creative Europe).

What are CEO Councils?

CEO Councils are small-group talks with members of the boards of directors of start-ups and companies from CataloniaBio & HealthTech, where a prestigious expert or business or political leader is invited to share experiences and strategic perspectives for companies.

These sessions were first held in 2017, when Catalonia already had a consolidated business community and an ever-growing network of entrepreneurs in the life sciences and health.In addition to presenting topics of interest, CEO Councils also help strengthen the relationships of this invaluable group for the ecosystem.
